What is an Architectural Technologist?
Architectural Technologists are experts in the technology of architecture and are pivotal members of the project team. They lead on the technological aspects of a building’s design, combining an in-depth knowledge of building science and technology to develop architectural plans that improve the use and performance of a building. This might include detailing, materials, sustainability elements. Architectural Technologist will often work on refurbishments and refits, as well as new projects.
Duties of an Architectural Technologist
The role of an Architectural Technologist can vary significantly from project to project, but will typically involve preparing and presenting design proposals, and advising upon specification, materials and detailed design solutions that relates to performance and production criteria. Architectural Technologists may be required to lead projects from start to finish and in some instances will be responsible for managing and coordinating the design team.
Skills and Competencies

Regular feedback will need to be gained from clients and buildings occupants. Therefore, good communication and the ability to report on a project’s performance are essential skills.
