What is a Bid Manager?

Bid Managers are responsible preparing pitches, proposals and qualifications packages for prospective clients. The role combines elements of business development, communications and marketing, and often sees Bid Managers working closely with senior leadership to project manage bids from inception to completion.

Duties of a Bid Manager

The primary duty of a Bid Manager is to help the practice win work by managing submissions from start to finish. This includes scheduling and tracking the production of proposals and qualifications packages to meet deadlines. Along with preparing bids and presentations, it’s crucial that Bid Managers stay on top of market trends and work with Business Development teams to identify new business opportunities.

Skills and Competencies

Bid Managers are responsible for producing written material of the highest standards for marketing and business development purposes. Therefore, exceptional written communication skills are essential. A keen graphic eye, strong attention to detail and a meticulous approach to work, combined with strong project management skills and an ability to work well under pressure, are prerequisites.
