Architectural Technician

A dynamic and growing architectural practice is looking for a talented Architectural Technician (Planning) to join its collaborative design team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a diverse range of residential and mixed-use projects, working across all stages of the planning and design process-from early feasibility through to detailed planning submissions.
The Role
You will support the development of innovative, sustainable housing schemes, working closely with architects and urban designers to deliver thoughtful, high-quality placemaking. The role offers exposure to all stages of the planning process, including the preparation of full, outline, and reserved matters applications.
As you develop within the role, you will gain increasing responsibility and creative input, with clear opportunities for progression and professional growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of feasibility layouts, masterplans, and planning-stage drawings
- Support the production of planning application packages, including graphics and reports
- Create high-quality visualisations and presentation materials
- Collaborate with project leaders, architects, and consultants
- Contribute to design development and placemaking strategies
- Manage multiple tasks across a range of live projects
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ UK-based experience in residential and/or mixed-use projects
- Experience working with developer clients and national housebuilders
- Strong interest in residential design and placemaking
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
- Good graphic and visualisation skills (Adobe Creative Cloud, SketchUp)
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- High attention to detail and ability to manage competing deadlines
- Motivated to learn, progress, and engage in CPD
