A well-established, design-driven architectural and planning studio based in Chelmsford is looking for an experienced Architectural Technician or Technical Team Leader to join their growing team. Known for their close collaboration with national housebuilders and private developers, the practice delivers thoughtful residential masterplans and detailed technical packages across a range of low- to medium-density housing schemes.

The Role
You’ll be taking the lead on technical delivery, coordinating drawing packages, ensuring compliance with UK regulations, and supporting junior members of the team. You’ll play a pivotal role in managing residential projects from detailed design through to construction.
Key responsibilities include:
Producing accurate and thorough working drawings using AutoCAD
Overseeing technical detailing to comply with UK Building Regulations
Liaising with consultants, clients, and local authorities
Preparing specifications and coordinating information across disciplines
Supporting the Directors with team management and technical oversight
Providing mentorship to junior team members
Managing workload to meet deadlines and project milestones
About You
Minimum of 5 years’ UK experience in architectural practice, ideally on residential projects
Expert in AutoCAD with a strong understanding of construction detailing
Confident with UK Building Regulations, NHBC and technical standards
Capable of leading or coordinating small teams
Strong verbal and written communication skills
A team player with excellent problem-solving and organisational skills
Experience with Revit is advantageous but not essential
Motivated, dependable, and eager to grow with the practice
