Aspiring Design Manager Role Responsibilities

  • Design Team Leadership: Lead and manage the design team to ensure efficient project delivery
  • Resource Management: Oversee project budgets, ensuring alignment with design team activities. Prepare weekly resource reports on projects
  • Financial Oversight: Review project costs, provide monthly financial updates to the senior management, and collaborate on setting realistic annual targets
  • Technical Expertise: Utilise a strong knowledge of AutoCAD, BIM software, UK Building Regulations, and joinery construction/design
  • Contract Management: Lead the negotiation and closure of design management agreements. Coordinate third-party consultant appointments and contracts
  • Administration: Oversee timesheet approval, report on architectural and design management services, and conduct post-completion reviews
  • Legal Compliance: Ensure compliance with non-disclosure agreements, terms and conditions, and manage insurance for consultants and contractors
  • Project Delivery: Articulate client briefs to the design team, offer constructive design advice and on-site problem-solving for the team, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
  • Client Relationship Management: Act as a key client point of contact, obtain feedback, and manage client sign-off stages
  • Technical Abilities: Proficient in AutoCAD, InDesign, Photoshop, Microsoft Word and Excel, Microsoft Teams with clear written and verbal communication skills

Qualifications and Experience for Aspiring Design Manager Role

  • Qualifications: Recognised Architectural degree and plenty of UK, ideally London, on-site experience
  • Experience: 10 years post-graduation experience, with at least 4 years of experience in the UK. Work from Home (WFH) flexibility
