This is an exciting opportunity for an architect with 10+ years’ experience and a strong track record in the higher education and public sectors to step into a leadership position.

The Role

As an Associate, you’ll be responsible for leading multiple projects concurrently, from early concept through to delivery across all RIBA stages. You’ll manage client relationships, lead consultant teams, and oversee internal resources, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standard.

Beyond project leadership, this role also offers the chance to shape the strategic growth of the practice. You’ll contribute to business development, bid preparation, and networking, as well as representing the studio externally at events, panels, and within sector-specific forums.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of higher education, schools, and community projects

  • Oversee multiple projects at once, managing teams, consultants, and resources

  • Drive bids, presentations, and new business development opportunities

  • Represent the practice externally through networking, panels, and sector events

  • Support the practice’s social value and sustainability initiatives

  • Work closely with senior leadership to influence the strategic direction of the practice

Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years’ experience, ideally within higher education, public realm, or community projects

  • Strong design leadership with proven experience across all RIBA stages

  • Advanced Revit proficiency – essential

  • Track record of managing clients, consultant teams, and project resources

  • Commercially aware and proactive in business development and networking

  • Experience in preparing successful bids and securing new work

  • Familiarity with sustainability and social value strategies desirable

What’s on Offer

  • Salary £60,000 – £70,000 depending on experience

  • Hybrid working – 1 day WFH (Monday or Friday)

  • Weekly team lunches, studio socials, and an international trip planned for the new year

  • Collaborative and design-focused working environment with strong career progression opportunities

This is a unique opportunity for a design-led Associate Architect to step into a pivotal role at a creative, forward-thinking practice and make a real impact – both in projects and in shaping the studio’s growth.
