This dynamic studio is seeking an experienced and visionary Associate Director to join their senior leadership team. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute strategically to the growth and success of a design-led practice known for its ambitious and high-quality projects.
The Associate Director Role:
As an Associate Director, you will take a leading role in shaping the practice’s project portfolio, client relationships, and internal team development. You will be responsible for overseeing multiple complex projects, ensuring excellence in design, delivery, and client satisfaction, whilst supporting and inspiring senior team members.
This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of architectural processes and business development.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the strategic delivery of high-value projects (£50m–£200m construction value) across sectors including commercial, residential, workplace, and creative reuse
Manage and mentor senior architects and project teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performing studio culture
Build and maintain strong client and consultant relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and representative of the practice
Oversee project programmes, budgets, and quality control to ensure successful delivery
Contribute to the growth and development of the practice through business development, team leadership, and operational management
Ensure projects meet the highest standards of design and technical accuracy, in line with UK Building Regulations and industry best practice
Provide guidance on design strategy and project direction while supporting junior and senior staff
Maintain a solid understanding of BIM and Revit workflows to effectively coordinate with technical teams
Skills & Experience Required:
Proven experience in a senior leadership role within an architectural practice, ideally as Associate Director or similar
Strong track record managing complex, large-scale projects with values between £50m and £200m
Excellent leadership and people management skills with the ability to inspire and develop teams
Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, confident engaging with clients and senior stakeholders
Deep knowledge of UK construction processes, Building Regulations, and architectural best practice
Solid understanding of Revit and BIM processes—hands-on proficiency not essential, but technical awareness is important
Demonstrated ability to balance strategic oversight with hands-on project involvement
Ambition to shape the future direction of a growing and respected architectural practice
