Associate Interior Architect Role Summary

A renowned interior architecture and design studio is seeking a talented Associate Interior Architect to join their growing team in London. Specialising in high-end hospitality, travel, and experiential spaces, this studio works on large-scale, three-dimensional projects that blend aesthetic excellence with operational efficiency.

Associate Interior Architect Role Description

As an Associate Interior Architect, you will play a crucial role in shaping dynamic, functional spaces that prioritise user experience and spatial flow. This is a big-picture role, requiring a strategic mindset to plan and configure areas effectively – from guest lounges to high-end hospitality environments. You will oversee the spatial layout, ensuring logical and seamless design solutions that enhance both the aesthetic and operational aspects of each project.

You will be a key client-facing presence, confidently leading presentations, building relationships, and managing expectations. You will also guide and mentor a team of designers, ensuring high-quality output and project cohesion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and refine spatial layouts for large-scale hospitality and travel projects, focusing on functionality, flow, and user experience.
  • Oversee the full design process, from concept to completion, ensuring operationally effective and visually compelling solutions.
  • Lead and manage a team, providing creative direction and technical guidance.
  • Present ideas confidently to clients and stakeholders, translating their needs into innovative design solutions.
  • Travel as required for site visits, client meetings, and project installations.
  • Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and other design professionals to ensure seamless project delivery.

Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in interior architecture, with a strong background in hospitality, travel, or experiential environments.
  • Strong analytical and spatial planning skills – ability to think in 3D and design with operational logic in mind.
  • Excellent client management and presentation skills, with the ability to convey design concepts persuasively.
  • Experience leading and mentoring a team.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Suite, etc.).
  • A problem-solving mindset with a keen eye for detail and a passion for innovative spatial design.

What’s in It for You?

  • Work on prestigious global projects in a highly creative and collaborative environment.
  • Opportunity for travel and professional growth.

Work Environment

  • Minimum three days in the office.
  • Team Tuesdays – everyone in the studio together.
  • Ad hoc remote working flexibility for personal travel.
  • Office treats and bi-weekly team breakfast.

Wellbeing

  • Increasing holiday allowance with service.
  • Commitment to work-life balance, avoiding overtime and weekend work.
  • 24/7 employee support programme for work and personal challenges.

Social & Professional Development

  • Bi-monthly social events and Friday happy hour (5 PM drinks & snacks).
  • Regular check-ins with your manager, plus annual and half-yearly appraisals.
  • CPD training opportunities both on and off-site.
  • Exposure to design shows and exhibitions.
