Associate Interior Designer Role Description

As an Associate Interior Designer, you will be responsible for design development at Stage 3, receiving concept direction from clients and refining it into fully developed interior schemes ready for technical execution. This role requires strong creativity, technical knowledge, and attention to detail to ensure that every project is operationally sound while maintaining the design vision.

You will work closely with FF&E, materials, and spatial planning, ensuring that designs meet both aesthetic and functional requirements. From luxury spas to high-end hospitality spaces, you will integrate operational details seamlessly into the design while coordinating with technical teams for execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and refine Stage 3 design based on concept direction, preparing it for technical detailing.
  • Work with FF&E, materials, and finishes to create refined, high-quality interiors.
  • Ensure that operational and functional details are seamlessly integrated into the design.
  • Collaborate closely with technical teams to ensure design intent is maintained through execution.
  • Present design developments to clients and stakeholders confidently.
  • Manage and mentor junior designers, providing guidance on design development.
  • Travel as required for client meetings, site visits, and supplier coordination.

Skills & Experience:

  • Strong background in design development, with proven experience in high-end hospitality interiors.
  • Expertise in FF&E selection, material specification, and operational space planning.
  • Ability to translate initial design concepts into refined, functional, and executable interior schemes.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Suite, etc.).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience working with consultants, suppliers, and technical teams to ensure project success.

What’s in It for You?

  • Work on prestigious global hospitality projects with a dynamic and collaborative team.
  • Opportunity for travel and professional growth.

Work Environment

  • Minimum three days in the office.
  • Team Tuesdays – all employees in the studio together.
  • Ad hoc remote working flexibility for personal travel.
  • Office treats and bi-weekly team breakfast.

Wellbeing

  • Increasing holiday allowance with service.
  • Commitment to work-life balance, avoiding overtime and weekend work.
  • 24/7 employee support programme for work and personal challenges.

Social & Professional Development

  • Bi-monthly social events and Friday happy hour (5 PM drinks & snacks).
  • Regular check-ins with your manager, plus annual and half-yearly appraisals.
  • CPD training opportunities both on and off-site.
  • Exposure to design shows and exhibitions.
