Summary of Design Director Role

A bespoke high-end residential and commercial studio is looking for a design director who is driven, experienced, and passionate to coordinate and manage the team and projects, as this studio grows and expands its already established success. Required experience managing mid-large design teams, and navigating through the project life cycle, you’ll ensure that each technical pack reflects quality, and every design solution aligns with the studio’s principles.

Design Director Job Description

  • Oversee team members to achieve their respective roles, plans, and tools, identifying changes required to optimise overall design production in the studio
  • Strategically planning and estimating resources, managing project timelines, and updates alongside the operations manager
  • Maintain processes, standards, and structural frameworks across the studio in project delivery and ensuring compliance with established guidelines
  • Manage project budgets and meet scheduled delivery timelines. Collaborate with consultant teams for design coordination and manage client expectations, analyzing and advising on technical specifications and project costs
  • Formulate a clear business strategy, actively spearheading and securing new projects for business development
  • Opportunity to travel both in the UK and internationally
  • This role would be for someone legally eligible to work in the UK.

Skills Necessary for this Design Director Role

  • Management experience of medium to large teams
  • A strong commercial awareness with outstanding client-facing skills and an understanding of communications throughout the design and construction project phases
  • Proven experience mentoring, coordinating, and empowering interior design teams
  • A minimum of 15 years experience in a luxury interior or architectural studio and a portfolio of high-end projects
  • A genuine passion and extensive knowledge of the luxury hospitality, commercial and residential sector
  • Must have a degree or recognized qualification in Interior Design or architecture
