An ambitious and growing international architecture studio is seeking a Design Director to join its Singapore office. This senior leadership role offers the chance to shape high-profile projects across the Asia-Pacific region, while leading and developing a talented, multi-disciplinary design team within a collaborative, design-led environment.
The Role
You will lead a team of 20–30 architects and designers, driving design excellence and delivering projects across a diverse portfolio. This role requires a confident and experienced design leader, capable of guiding projects from concept through to completion while contributing strategically to the growth of the studio.
You will act as the principal design author on key schemes, maintain strong client relationships, and ensure the team consistently produces high-quality work. Beyond project leadership, you will oversee team development, mentor staff, manage profitability, and support business development initiatives. There will also be opportunities to collaborate on multi-office projects and travel regionally as required.
Key Responsibilities
Provide design leadership across multiple projects, from concept to detailed documentation
Serve as the principal design author and key decision-maker on major schemes
Lead client and stakeholder engagement, presentations, and government liaison where required
Oversee team performance, resourcing, and output quality
Mentor and develop team members to foster a collaborative studio culture
Support business development and help cultivate future client opportunities
Collaborate with international teams on multi-office projects
Undertake regional travel as needed
Champion emerging technologies and AI-driven design processes
Requirements
Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience in design, contract administration, or project management
Registered Architect in the UK, Hong Kong, or equivalent
Proven experience delivering large-scale or high-profile projects
Advanced skills in Revit/BIM and Rhino Grasshopper
Fluent in written and spoken English; additional languages such as Cantonese or Mandarin desirable
Demonstrated leadership experience managing sizeable design teams
