A top international firm is looking to grow their team with an experienced Design Manger, to work across sectors, initially to work on some award winning large scale technical projects.

You will ideally have existing experience of a couple of years working in a similar role, ideally working within logistics and distribution sector, with a team leading mindset.

Job description and skills:

This is a rare and brilliant opportunity to demonstrate and utiltise your passion for design management and the construction industry, together with your internal and external team co-ordination, innovation and technical knowledge to deliver great projects in the UK and potentially internationally too.

Your skills:

  • Experience in the industry, preferably in project management or architecture.
  • Experience of both design and build and traditional contracting types.
  • A thorough knowledge of design and construction procedures.
  • Thorough familiarity with legislation requirements and construction codes.
  • Working knowledge of coordinating multiple design packages.
  • Understanding of certifications and sustainability practises.
  • Outstanding written and spoken English.
  • Great communication and presentation skills.
  • Solid interpersonal skills.
  • Capable of sharing knowledge, working as a team, and actively supporting others.
  • Logical and pragmatic thinker.
  • Strong organisational abilities. capable of setting priorities and controlling their own time. Process-driven.
  • Capacity to work efficiently on a variety of projects.

Your responsibilites:

  • Promote company to build existing and new relationships with clients, consultants, and contractors.
  • Set design deliverables and schedules for construction.
  • Prepare design programme in conjunction with PM, consultants and CDP contractors.
  • Manage the design relationship between company, customer, design consultants, designing sub contractors, and statutory bodies acting as the main point of contact on all design matters.
  • Prepare and agree the Information Release Schedule (IRS) with the design team and CDP contractors.
  • Schedule design team meeting requirements & lead DTMs.
  • Ensure compliance with sustainability design criteria (where appropriate). Ensure compliance with BIM Execution Plan (BEP).
  • Ensure compliance by the Company and all design consultants and designing sub contractors with the CDM regulations.
  • Research current trends, materials, and design ideas to be able to offer alternative solutions and challenges where appropriate.
  • Attend site to review the quality of installation, assist in identifying clashes, and providing solutions.
  • Support benchmarking and handover process.
