Summary

A friendly, vibrant team located in West London are looking for a Design Production Director to join on a permanent basis.

The studio has quickly gained a reputable and recognised name for creating characterful, soulful, and livable spaces with a high level of attention to detail and eclectic mix of found items.

Working under the direction of the Managing Director, and with a dotted line reporting into the Creative Director. This role will be taking responsibility for the design team and the successful delivery of client projects on time and to budget.

Job Description:

  • Joining the studio as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, supporting the evolution of the business operating model to ensure it delivers on its financial and non-financial objectives.
  • Take ownership for the end-to-end client value proposition and work with the Operations teams to drive efficiencies in the operating model to minimise manual/repeat processes and maximise team productivity.
  • Take responsibility for the evaluation of potential projects & produce phased resourcing plans, draft deliverables, and costs for approval by the Managing Director.
  • Working with the Creative Director and the Associates, set up project teams and, in association with the project leads, manage the projects to ensure agreed timeframes and budgets are adhered to throughout the creative process through to delivery.
  • Monitor and manage progress of actual v budgeted project costs by phase.
    Mentor and develop the Associates in their line management roles of the design team, ensuring they fulfil the requirements of their job descriptions.
  • Support the wider design team in the delivery of their objectives and mentoring them to be the best that they can be.
  • Promote the values of the business and create an environment for the team to deliver their objectives in a sustainable operating model.
  • Translate the founder’s vision and the business plans into clear and documented goals and objectives for the team.

Skills & Experience Necessary:

A dynamic leader with experience running a similar sized team with a proven track record in the successful ownership and delivery of a complex project portfolio, showing exceptional organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.

Design or architecture experience is not a must but can be helpful and from a design perspective, you will share our interest in the history of styles, period detailing and antiques, as well as understanding current trends.

  • 8 plus years’ post qualification experience of high-end residential & commercial projects (architecture or interior design).
  • Proven track record of resourcing and managing projects from concept to delivery on time and to budget.
  • Line management experience of senior employees.
  • Experience of working with architects, designers, consultants, specialists and suppliers.
  • Commercially strong with an analytical approach to decision making and experience in forecasting, planning and adjusting resources according to changing client requirements.
  • Excellent leadership, time management and organisational skills.
  • A real enthusiasm for data and analysis but with the ability to apply the results to a strategic perspective.
  • Strong awareness of the technologies, systems and processes required to run the operations.
  • Able to work to challenging deadlines, handle large workloads and work under pressure if necessary.
