HAUS Careers is representing a design-led architectural studio seeking an experienced Architectural Technician to join their growing team. The practice specialises in beautifully crafted, high-end private homes, combining traditional architectural language with thoughtful contemporary living.
Based in a picturesque rural setting in Buckinghamshire, the studio delivers bespoke residential projects across the Home Counties and selected locations throughout the UK. Their work reflects a deep respect for craftsmanship, heritage, and timeless design — with projects ranging from new-build country houses to sensitive work on historic and listed properties.
Please note: the studio is in a rural location and is not accessible via public transport. A car is essential.
The Role
This is a key technical role within the studio, focusing on the delivery of detailed construction information for high-end private residential projects. You will work closely with architects and consultants to translate design concepts into precise technical packages, ensuring exceptional quality and buildability throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities Include:
Producing detailed technical drawings and construction packages for bespoke residential projects
Developing and coordinating planning, Building Regulations and construction information
Preparing detailed sections and plans with a strong understanding of traditional and vernacular architecture
Liaising with architects, consultants, contractors and clients throughout project delivery
Ensuring drawings meet current UK Building Regulations and technical standards
Supporting project delivery from concept through to construction
This is a hybrid role, with 2–3 days per week in the Buckinghamshire studio, alongside site visits and meetings depending on project requirements.
About You
You will be an experienced Architectural Technician with a strong background in traditional or vernacular high-end residential architecture and a passion for craftsmanship and detail.
Key Requirements:
Significant experience working on high-end private residential projects in the UK
Strong technical knowledge of traditional materials and detailing
An interest in construction methods and materials that elevate buildings beyond the ordinary
Excellent proficiency in AutoCAD or Vectorworks
Solid understanding of UK planning processes and Building Regulations
Exceptional attention to detail and technical accuracy
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a design team
Desirable Experience
Work on heritage buildings, listed properties or conservation projects
Knowledge of bespoke joinery, stonework and traditional construction techniques
Experience delivering residential projects across both rural and urban contexts
