A fantastic Architecture practice located in London is looking for Financial Controller & Team Assistant, to join their expanding and creative team. This is a Maternity cover position, fixed at 12 months, with the possibility of a permanent contract, following the end of the contract review. This role offers a hybrid-working and is available for either the London or Cotswolds offices. The ideal candidate will be organized, proactive, and a great communicator. This role would suit someone who has experience within the industry in a finance-focused role. And is adept with multi-tasking and enjoys a creative challenge.

Job description:

Financial duties:  

  • The successful person will work alongside the Directors and the Studio & Marketing Assistant.
  • The role will involve assisting three directors across two offices, London & the Cotswolds
  • Sophisticated and practical understanding of finance within a design studio
  • You will be an excellent communicator, with a professional manner
  • You will be able to manage all the finance duties in the business from billing and invoices to chasing payments, running systems, and bookkeeping
  • Managing direct debits & subscriptions
  • Making direct payments from banking platforms
  • Overseeing Cashflow, P+L, and Balance Sheet within Xero
  • Raising and issuing monthly invoices to clients
  • Administration of payroll and liaison with payroll bureau
  • Managing monthly employee expenses

Team Assistant duties: 

  • To provide personal assistance to the Directors and ensure that the company’s goals and objectives are met
  • Manage professional and personal diaries and schedules for Directors, including email, travel arrangements, client management, and company logistics
  • Support the Directors in ad hoc administrative duties
  • Potential to assist in ad hoc marketing deliverables

Skills necessary: 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organised and strong time-management skills
  • To be able to manage and coordinate multiple tasks at once
  • Great attention detail
  • Proactive approach
  • Professional and diligent
  • Detailed experience of wage journaling
  • Experience in Xero accounting platform
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel and to be ability to assist in overseeing project profitability
  • An interest in Architecture, Interiors, Estates, and Marketing is preferable
  • Minimum of 2 years within a similar role
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Must have a good attitude to work as they are a close-knit team.
