Head of Product Design Role Summary
A Head of Product Design is required to join a globally recognised interior design studio in London. This senior appointment offers the opportunity to lead product design within a longstanding studio known for creating timeless interiors and commercially successful product collections across international markets.
With nearly five decades of design excellence, the studio works across multiple disciplines, delivering everything from luxury design-led products to large-scale collaborations with commercial retail brands. This role sits at the intersection of creative leadership, commercial design and brand development.
The Role
This is a rare opportunity to lead product design within a global interior design studio. Working closely with commercial retail partners, you will develop market-ready product collections across multiple categories while also supporting the interior design team through the creation of bespoke pieces for international projects.
You will have significant creative autonomy and work closely with the founder and senior leadership team, overseeing the full product lifecycle from concept through to delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the founder and report directly on product design direction and progress
- Lead all stages of the product design process from briefing and research through to concept, sketching, CAD, rendering and technical drawings
- Collaborate with commercial retail brands to design and develop product collections
- Oversee the design and development of all product lines, ensuring brand alignment and commercial viability
- Manage timelines and budgets throughout the product development lifecycle
- Create designs aligned with brand values, market trends and customer expectations
- Represent the studio at meetings, product reviews, trade shows and industry events
- Collaborate daily with interior design, styling and marketing teams, as well as external partners
- Manage multiple projects within a fast-paced studio environment
The Ideal Candidate
- 7 to 10 years of relevant product design experience, with a degree preferred
- Proven experience designing lighting and bathroom products, including pendant lighting, wall lights, table lamps and vanity units
- Strong research skills with clear and confident communication
- Excellent sketching ability to communicate ideas quickly and effectively
- Strong 2D and 3D CAD, rendering and visual presentation skills
- Good understanding of varied manufacturing processes and materials
- Confident relationship builder with experience working alongside commercial partners
