HAUS is excited to be working with a prestigious AJ100 architecture practice, known for its pioneering work in healthcare design. With a legacy that began over 30 years ago with the groundbreaking Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, their Health + Care team continues to transform patient environments across the UK and beyond.
As the sector accelerates and diversifies, this top-tier practice is now seeking a Healthcare Architect Technical Lead to join their Manchester studio and play a pivotal role in driving technical quality and innovation across complex, large-scale projects.
Why this Architect Technical Lead role?
This is an outstanding opportunity for a technically gifted and healthcare-savvy architect to join a practice that genuinely values research, rigour, and impact. You’ll be delivering high-profile projects that redefine how healthcare environments are designed and experienced—while influencing technical standards across the entire studio.
In this Architect Technical Lead role, you will:
Lead the technical design and delivery of landmark healthcare schemes including acute hospitals, research centres, diagnostics facilities, and strategic masterplans
Oversee and coordinate detailed design packages across multiple RIBA stages
Work closely with internal teams, healthcare consultants, and client-side stakeholders to ensure design intent is carried through to construction
Champion robust technical solutions that meet the highest standards in compliance, functionality, and clinical efficiency
Stay at the forefront of design innovation—bringing new ideas, systems, and technical approaches into the team
Mentor junior architects and technicians, embedding best practices across healthcare project delivery
What we’re looking for:
ARB-registered architect or experienced technologist with extensive healthcare sector experience
Deep understanding of NHS technical standards, HTMs/HBNs, and clinical design requirements
Proven experience delivering complex, large-scale projects through RIBA Stages 3–6
Meticulous eye for technical detail and a collaborative, proactive mindset
Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to lead by example
Passionate about creating healthcare environments that support wellness, innovation, and long-term flexibility
What’s in it for you?
You’ll join a studio that combines creativity and rigour in equal measure—where design quality is matched by a strong culture of support, recognition, and personal development. In return, you’ll receive:
£60,000–£70,000 salary, depending on experience
20 days holiday, plus one additional day per year of service (up to 25 days)
5% employer pension contribution
Cycle to Work scheme
Childcare vouchers
Life insurance
Friday drinks and a genuinely sociable studio environment
A clear pathway for career growth in a nationally recognised, design-led team
If you’re ready to lead technically on some of the UK’s most important healthcare projects—and help shape the future of health design—we’d love to hear from you.
