Senior Architectural Technician Role Summary

London
Permanent
£40,000–£45,000 (DOE)

A respected and design-conscious architectural studio is seeking a Senior Architectural Technician to join their growing team. Renowned for delivering thoughtful, high-quality projects across both residential and commercial sectors, this practice offers the opportunity to take ownership of projects and lead technical delivery from concept to completion.

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and highly capable Senior Technician who can manage projects independently while maintaining strong communication with clients, consultants, and internal teams. You’ll play a key role in coordinating and leading the technical delivery of a range of projects, ensuring compliance, quality, and design integrity throughout.

You’ll be both hands-on and strategic — someone who thrives on problem-solving, site coordination, and ensuring projects run smoothly from design to delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage multiple projects independently, overseeing all technical aspects from early design through to construction.

  • Act as a consultant and design team lead, coordinating effectively with clients, contractors, and in-house designers.

  • Prepare and oversee detailed technical drawings and design packages using AutoCAD.

  • Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, planning conditions, and industry standards.

  • Attend and lead site meetings, resolving on-site challenges efficiently.

  • Oversee project delivery to ensure alignment with design intent, quality, programme, and budget.

  • Communicate clearly and confidently across all levels, maintaining a professional and proactive approach.

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a similar technical role within an architectural practice.

  • Proven track record in both residential and commercial projects.

  • Proficient in AutoCAD; experience with Revit or 3D modelling is beneficial.

  • Strong understanding of Building Regulations and modern construction methods.

  • Confident communicator, capable of client liaison and team coordination.

  • Excellent detailing, technical problem-solving, and organisational skills.

  • Site experience essential — must be comfortable managing technical challenges on live projects.

  • Proactive, professional, and able to take initiative under minimal supervision.

Why Join This Practice?

You’ll be joining a talented and collaborative team who value technical excellence, open communication, and creative thinking. The studio offers a friendly, professional environment where autonomy and accountability are encouraged, and where your technical expertise will be recognised and rewarded.
