Senior Interior Designer Role Summary
Contract – £250 – £300 per day

A highly respected central London design studio is seeking an exceptional Senior Interior Designer to take a leading role across luxury hospitality and marine projects. This is an opportunity for an experienced designer who combines strong conceptual talent with technical excellence, leadership ability and confidence managing complex, multi-stage projects.
As a senior member of the team, you’ll shape design direction, mentor designers, and ensure the studio’s work is delivered to the highest industry and regulatory standards. You’ll play a crucial part in maintaining quality, efficiency and innovation across the studio’s portfolio.
The Role
You will oversee multiple projects at various stages, providing direction to design teams, guiding project delivery, and ensuring work meets both creative ambitions and technical requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead conceptual design, research and scheme development alongside Directors and Associates.
Develop design ideas through sketches, CAD drawings and detailed technical documentation.
Manage the production and checking of drawings, details, specifications and schedules.
Chair weekly team/project meetings to review progress, set targets and ensure deadlines are met.
Oversee resource planning, time management and budget control in collaboration with the PMO.
Prepare and review presentations, renderings, moodboards and client materials.
Select and specify materials, finishes, FF&E, lighting and bespoke elements.
Ensure all design work complies with relevant regulations, including SOLAS/IMO and fire regulations for hospitality and marine environments.
Mentor and support team members; participate in recruitment, interviews and staff development.
Meet clients, suppliers and contractors in the UK and internationally.
Support the maintenance of project files, processes, and the sample library.
Promote CPD for yourself and the wider design team.
Represent the studio with professionalism in all internal and external interactions.
Ensure accurate weekly timesheets and expenses, and deliver projects on time and on budget.
What you’ll bring
Proven experience leading interior design projects, ideally within luxury hospitality or marine sectors.
Strong conceptual design skills with excellent technical knowledge across construction and detailing.
Confident team leader with experience mentoring designers and overseeing multiple projects.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, MS Office, and PowerPoint; experience with FF&E scheduling and Spexx is beneficial.
Strong knowledge of suppliers, materials, FF&E, and relevant regulations (Fire, SOLAS, IMO).
Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage demanding clients and tight deadlines.
