About this Senior Landscape Architect Role

As a Senior Landscape Architect, you will assume a key role within the practice, leading the design process with a particular emphasis on the early RIBA stages. You will engage in a variety of projects including commercial, residential, public realm, and educational sectors, with opportunities to collaborate with esteemed institutions such as Oxford and Cambridge colleges. This position provides the chance to work alongside top design practices and ambitious clients.

Key Responsibilities for this Senior Landscape Architect Role

  • Project Leadership: As a Senior Landscape Architect, lead projects independently and manage small teams to deliver outstanding landscape designs.
  • Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior colleagues, promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Client Collaboration: Work closely with clients to understand their needs, present projects to planning authorities and quality review panels, and participate in design reviews.
  • Technical Expertise: Utilise knowledge in urban greening, trees, biodiversity net gain, SuDS, public engagement, and co-design to address complex planning issues.
  • Design Excellence: Exhibit design flair and a thorough understanding of the design process and project delivery through all RIBA stages.
  • Communication: Create high-quality reports, presentations, and graphics to effectively convey design concepts and project progress..

Skills and Qualifications for this Senior Landscape Architect Role

  • A design-based degree in landscape architecture, architecture, urban design, or related fields.
  • Chartered Membership of the Landscape Institute (CMLI) is beneficial.
  • At least five years of professional experience in landscape practice in the UK.
  • Proficiency in relevant design software, including Adobe Creative Suite and SketchUp; any knowledge of Vectorworks is advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience presenting to planning officers and at design reviews.
  • Ability to lead and inspire project teams and clients.
  • Curious, motivated, and passionate about design.
