Salary Guide: £65,000 – £80,000 (experience dependent)

Summary of Experienced Senior Principal Designer Role

We’re seeking an experienced Senior Principal Designer who is results-oriented and proactive, capable of managing bespoke architectural projects and driving new business opportunities. As a progressive practice, you’ll play a pivotal role in understanding our culture, identifying growth avenues, and supporting staff development. This entrepreneurial position offers substantial responsibility and the autonomy to achieve tangible results.

Key Responsibilities for Senior Principal Designer Role

  • Advise designated Project Design Team members and client organizations on Health and Safety risk management matters, fulfilling duties as Principal Designer in alignment with current UK (or international equivalent) CDM regulations.
  • Provide comprehensive support and advice to in-house design teams
  • Review projects and designs, prioritising CDM PD appointed projects while ensuring consistency in Pre-construction Health and Safety standards.
  • Oversee Health and Safety aspects during the Pre-Construction phase and manage coordination effectively.
  • Aid in compiling and refining guidance materials and management tools.
  • Conduct training sessions for in-house design disciplines.
  • Liaise with Enforcing Authorities when necessary.
  • Assess Design Risk Assessments submitted by Project Design Team critically and assist in their completion

Skills and Qualifications for this Senior Principal Designer Role

  • Previous Principal Designer experience
  • Proficiency in design and construction management methodologies.
  • Proven track record in delivering CDM/H&S consultancy services.
  • CAD proficiency
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with diplomacy.
  • Proactive and initiative-driven mindset.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Capacity to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Self-motivated with a sense of responsibility.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships internally and externally.
  • Degree in architecture, architectural technology, or construction/engineering.
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent IOSH membership
  • Member of APS
