Studio Manager Role Summary
An award-winning creative studio is seeking a Studio Manager with HR experience to join its expanding South London team. Specialising in film, animation, and architectural visualisation, this is an exciting opportunity to support a growing 15-person studio at a pivotal stage of development. The role combines studio operations, HR, and finance within a dynamic, creative environment.
About the Role
As Studio Manager, you’ll take over key operational responsibilities from the COO, ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day operations. This is a hands-on role suited to a proactive, organised professional looking to grow within a close-knit, design-driven team.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate office maintenance, repairs, and supplier management
- Manage health and safety compliance, including PAT testing
- Organise studio events, socials, and staff activities
- Maintain accurate HR records – absences, holidays, and lateness
- Support compliance with UK employment law and HR documentation
- Assist with drafting contracts and onboarding new hires
- Act as the first point of contact for staff concerns and escalate where needed
- Manage recruitment and onboarding processes
- Support staff reviews and assist with contractor engagement
- Check supplier invoices, reconcile against budgets, and update Gantt charts
- Input supplier invoices into Xero and allocate to correct accounts
- Maintain internal systems such as Notion and provide basic IT support
The Successful Candidate
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Studio Manager in a creative or design studio
- Strong HR experience with working knowledge of UK employment law
- Finance experience using Xero and excellent attention to detail
- Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Experience liaising with clients and reviewing contracts or NDAs
- Proficiency with G-Suite and Microsoft Office
