Technical Interior Designer Role Summary
We’re working with the UK’s number one interior design and workplace consultancy who are on the lookout for a talented Technical Interior Designer. They are a creative powerhouse known for delivering exceptional office spaces that spark productivity, creativity, and culture. Since 2009, they’ve transformed over 3,000 offices across the UK for everyone from bold start-ups to global giants.
The Role
As a Technical Interior Designer, you’ll be the bridge between cutting-edge conceptual design and construction reality. You’ll own the technical delivery of projects, translating beautiful design intent into detailed, buildable documentation—right down to the last detail.
You’ll work together with the design team, consultants, and contractors to ensure every drawing, spec, and layout meets the highest standards—both visually and functionally. You’ll report directly to the Managing Director and play a key part in making sure every project reflects the company’s design DNA: bold, human, and built for the future of work.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Collaborating closely with designers to develop and deliver detailed technical drawing packages
- Taking initial concepts through to construction documents, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and joinery details
- Coordinating with structural, MEP, acoustics, and architectural consultants to integrate all technical elements seamlessly
- Leading space planning, M&E coordination, ceiling/flooring plans, and lighting/furniture layouts
- Translating finishes into clear and accurate technical documentation
- Carrying out building control assessments and producing accommodation schedules
- Ensuring all designs meet UK building regulations and industry standards
- Supporting the client and design team through drawing sign-off, technical presentations, and on-site meetings
- Overseeing multiple projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality targets are met
- Building strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and project teams
- Keeping your knowledge of materials, construction techniques, and sustainability best practices up to date
Who They’re Looking For
You’re technically solid, creatively curious, and thrive in fast-paced, high-standard environments. You understand how to bring conceptual ideas to life, and you’re confident communicating both on paper and in person—whether that’s with clients, colleagues, or contractors.
You’ll also have:
- Strong experience in commercial interiors (workplace sector experience is a big plus)
- Expert-level proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD (BIM360 would be a bonus)
- A solid understanding of UK building systems, construction methods, and regulations
- Working knowledge of engineering science and technology as it relates to interiors
- A relevant BTEC, HND or architectural/interior technical qualification
- Excellent attention to detail and project management skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication
