Project Architect Role Summary
£42,000–£50,000 DOE | West London | High-End Residential
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a talented Project Architect to join an ambitious, design-led boutique architecture practice in West London, specialising in high-end residential projects.
Working on an exciting portfolio of bespoke homes, luxury extensions and considered renovations, this is a role offering far more than simply managing projects. You’ll have the opportunity to take the lead from initial concept through to completion, remain closely involved in the design process and work directly alongside the practice directors.
With a strong focus on architectural quality, thoughtful detailing and sustainable design, the studio is looking for someone who is passionate about creating exceptional homes and wants to play an active role in shaping both its projects and future growth.
If you’re looking for a position where your ideas are valued, your contribution is visible and you can genuinely make your mark, this could be an excellent next step.
The Role
This is a varied, hands-on position combining design, technical delivery and project leadership. You’ll take responsibility for your own projects across all RIBA stages, working closely with clients, consultants and contractors to bring carefully considered designs to life.
Your responsibilities will include:
Leading a range of high-end residential projects, including bespoke homes, extensions and renovations, from concept through to completion.
Developing creative architectural concepts and producing thoughtful, high-quality design proposals.
Preparing planning applications, detailed technical packages and schedules of work.
Managing and coordinating multidisciplinary consultants, including structural, M&E, drainage and energy specialists.
Overseeing project quality, technical detailing and compliance with relevant building regulations.
Building strong relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers and consultants, acting as a key point of contact throughout projects.
Taking an active role in design development, drawing production and technical problem-solving.
Supporting and mentoring junior team members, sharing knowledge and encouraging their development.
Getting involved in business development, marketing initiatives and networking opportunities as the practice continues to grow.
Championing sustainable design principles, including low-impact materials, energy efficiency and renewable technologies.
About You
We’re looking for a confident and enthusiastic Project Architect who enjoys taking responsibility, has a strong design sensibility and is equally comfortable working through the technical complexities of a project.
Ideally, you’ll have around five years’ post-qualification experience, although those with a minimum of three years’ experience and the right attitude will also be considered.
You’ll ideally bring:
Experience delivering high-end residential projects, particularly bespoke homes, extensions and renovations.
The ability to confidently manage projects independently across all RIBA stages.
A strong understanding of UK planning processes, Building Regulations and construction detailing.
Experience producing technical drawing packages, schedules of work and coordinating consultants.
Excellent working knowledge of AutoCAD, SketchUp and Photoshop.
A genuine interest in sustainable architecture and environmentally conscious design.
Strong communication skills and confidence dealing directly with clients and project teams.
A proactive approach, with the ability to manage priorities and take ownership of your work.
An interest in supporting junior colleagues and contributing to the wider development of the practice.
Above all, you’ll be someone who loves architecture and wants to remain actively involved in the creative and technical side of projects, rather than simply managing from a distance.
The Practice
This is an opportunity to join a genuinely collaborative boutique studio where quality takes priority over quantity.
Working directly with the directors, you’ll benefit from a close-knit environment, open communication and the opportunity to have a real voice in the direction of projects. The practice has a strong commitment to thoughtful, sustainable architecture and takes pride in delivering carefully considered residential schemes.
As the business continues to develop, you’ll have the chance to grow alongside it, take on greater responsibility and play an important role in its future success.
What’s on Offer?
£42,000–£50,000, depending on experience.
Potential performance-related remuneration linked to practice profitability.
The opportunity to lead and take ownership of exciting high-end residential projects.
Direct access to practice directors and involvement in key project decisions.
A close-knit, collaborative studio with genuine opportunities to make an impact.
The chance to contribute to the continued growth and development of the practice.
