Senior Urban Designer Role Summary:
An award-winning multi-disciplinary consultancy based in Farringdon is seeking a talented Senior Urban Designer to join their team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the preparation and design of exciting masterplanning projects across the UK. This is a fantastic opportunity to work across a wide range of strategic and design-led projects – from early-stage concept development and site promotions, through to detailed planning application support.
You will have experience of working on similar projects supported by a portfolio, demonstrating the various stages of design, including concept masterplanning through to the preparation of Design and Access Statements, Design Codes and Illustrative Masterplans to support outline planning applications.
Senior Urban Designer Key Responsibilities:
- Produce vision documents, strategic development frameworks, and illustrative masterplans to support site promotion and local plan representations
- Create site analysis diagrams and high-quality graphics
- Prepare Design and Access Statements, Design Codes, and Site Framework Plans for outline planning submissions
- Design greenfield and brownfield masterplans, across a range of scales and sectors including residential, commercial and mixed-use
- Collaborate with internal planning, landscape, and architecture teams, as well as external stakeholders and clients
- Apply national and local planning guidance to develop policy-compliant, deliverable design solutions
- Support public consultations, workshops, and design review panels
- Work closely with junior members of the team on smaller projects
- Participate in business development activities
About You:
- Min. 5 years of post-qualification experience as an Urban Designer
- Hold a Master’s degree in Urban Design, with an undergraduate qualification in planning, architecture or landscape architecture
- Knowledge of the NPPF, National Design Guide and Model Design code legislation and best practice guidance
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Sketchup Pro and Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience using MicroStation or VectorWorks and hand illustration skills would be an advantage
- Be a creative and proactive team player
- Confident in presenting to clients and wider team
