A growing design-led architecture practice in Chelmsford is seeking an experienced Senior Architectural Technician or Senior Architectural Technologist to join its expanding team. With a strong portfolio of residential and mixed-use developments across the UK, the studio is looking for a technically focused professional who can take ownership of project delivery, lead technical coordination, and help shape best practice across the business.
This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, working closely with clients, consultants, and contractors, and playing a key role in the successful delivery of high-quality projects from technical design through to construction.
The Role
You will lead projects through the technical and delivery stages, ensuring schemes are coordinated, compliant, buildable, and delivered to a consistently high standard. Working closely with clients, consultants, contractors, and the wider design team, you will be responsible for producing and overseeing technical information, managing project programmes, and resolving complex construction challenges.
Beyond project delivery, you will contribute to the development of technical standards within the practice, support junior team members, and help strengthen project coordination across the studio.
Requirements
- Qualified Architect or Senior Architectural Technologist
- Significant post-qualification experience delivering UK residential and mixed-use developments
- Strong technical design, detailing, and construction knowledge
- Proven experience producing and coordinating tender and construction information
- Thorough understanding of UK Building Regulations and construction methodologies
- Experience managing project delivery, programmes, and consultant teams
- Confident client-facing communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to balance multiple projects and deadlines effectively
- Strong commercial awareness and professional judgement
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
- Experience with Revit and BIM workflows would be advantageous
- Full UK driving license and access to a car would be advantageous for attending site visits and project meetings
